NDIS reforms: what changes from 1 July 2026

Australia’s National Disability Insurance Scheme reaches a key milestone this month as the next wave of reforms begins to take effect.

• From 1 July 2026, mandatory registration begins to roll out for Supported Independent Living (SIL) and platform providers, and new SIL Practice Standards take effect.
• Participant budgets for social, civic and community participation and some capacity-building supports will be progressively adjusted from 1 October 2026 — the change many families with younger children may notice first.
• The parliamentary inquiry into the wider reforms has had its final report pushed back to 14 August 2026.
