Cochlear has received FDA clearance for the Osia 3 Sound Processor, calling it the first fully rechargeable active bone conduction sound processor on the market, with up to 30 hours of battery life per charge. Designed for people with conductive hearing loss, mixed hearing loss and single-sided deafness, the device adds a new signal-processing chip, a wider fitting range for mid-to-high frequency loss, and broader streaming support across Apple, Android and Bluetooth LE Audio, including Auracast broadcast audio in venues like cinemas and airports. Existing Osia System users will be able to upgrade. It reaches the US market this fall.
