Microsoft’s April 2026 Windows 11 update brings AI to its built-in Narrator screen reader. Narrator can now analyse and describe images — including reading text embedded in pictures, graphs and charts, something it previously could not do — giving blind and low-vision users richer context about people, objects, colours and data. The update also adds voice typing when renaming files, useful for people who cannot use a keyboard easily, and Microsoft says its HD natural voices will reach more languages through 2026.
